Hey folks, Doug here! You know, after 32 years of roasting coffee, you'd think I’ve seen it all—every bean, every blend, every brewing method. But let me tell you, sometimes the stars align just right, and you create something that feels… different. Special. Maybe even legendary. That’s exactly what happened with our G.O.A.T. Bros Blend.
Now, before you start wondering if this is just another coffee with a quirky name, let me tell you, G.O.A.T. Bros isn’t just a blend; it’s an experience. This isn’t your average cup of joe—oh no. This is an organic dark roast that’ll take your taste buds on a wild ride. We’re talking full-bodied richness, a velvety finish, and flavors that dance on the palate like, well, goats!
Let’s break it down: imagine biting into a luscious fig, that natural sweetness blending perfectly with the deep, decadent notes of chocolate. Now throw in a dash of aromatic cinnamon to spice things up. That’s G.O.A.T. Bros in a nutshell. Whether you’re pulling a shot of espresso or savoring it from a French press, this blend hits all the right notes.
The origin story of this blend is just as unique as its flavor. It started as our Java Holiday Blend, 2023 (Java Holiday, 2024 is right around the corner! How time flies...) The idea was to capture that warm, cozy feeling you get during the holidays—fireside chats, hot drinks, and the aroma of something sweet baking in the oven. Java Holiday is always a hit! But that year, people loved it so much that when the holiday season ended, they weren’t ready to say goodbye. And honestly, neither was I.
So, we kept it. But if it was going to stick around, it needed a new identity. That’s when I remembered a piece of my childhood that had always stuck with me. Growing up in western Illinois, I was surrounded by farms, and I was always terrified of my neighbor’s goats. There was something about those beady eyes and stubborn stares that spooked me as a kid. And, as you know, goats have a deep-rooted connection with coffee—thanks to the famous Ethiopian legend of the dancing goats. The story goes that Kaldi, an Ethiopian goat herder discovered coffee after noticing his goats acting all frisky after munching on some mysterious berries. Those berries, of course, were coffee cherries. He then tried it, and well…the rest is history.
Before San Francisco Coffee was even a thing, I had this etched picture of a goat that reminded me of those creepy goats from my childhood. I named him Fitz. Now, Fitz had been gathering dust for a while because, let’s face it, a scary-looking goat isn’t exactly what you want staring at you while you sip your morning brew. And everyone was like, “Doug, you don’t want to scare people!” But then I was just like—what if we leaned into it?
And so, G.O.A.T. Bros was born. Fitz got a makeover, and we gave him a brother, BillyTwo goats in leather jackets, looking tough as nails but with hearts of gold. They might look intimidating, but they’re here to deliver some of the best coffee you’ve ever tasted. Just like the blend itself, Fitz and Billy are complex, a little edgy, but dang cool!
So there you have it—the story behind G.O.A.T. Bros. It’s a blend with roots in tradition but with a personality all its own. Whether you’re a French press fanatic or an espresso enthusiast, this coffee is going to make you rethink what a dark roast can be. Next time you’re in SF Coffee, grab a bag and meet Fitz and Billy. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
Until next time, keep your beans fresh and your brews bold!
